Today is Monday and I only have classes with THIRD GRADE B. We have English, Science and ARTS. (Mondays are our hardest day but tomorrow you are English free)

We have finished one of the parts of this Unit in which we talked about the Universe and its parts. Now it's time for us to learn about our planet. THE EARTH.

First of all, we are going to watch this video.

In this video we watched how the Earth moves. First of all, we talk about ROTATION

En este vídeo hemos visto cómo se mueve la tierra. Primero de todo, hablamos sobre la ROTACIÓN. 

Now, write in your notebooks this summary. Also, draw how the Sun's rays reach the Planet Earth as in the picture before.

THE EARTH MOVES: ROTATION

The Earth spins on its axis. This movement is called ROTATION and it takes 24 hours to complete. 

This movement produces the cycle of day and night. When the Earth spins, the Sun's rays don't reach every part of the planet.  It is night where the Sun's rays don't reach. 

ARTS: 

As an ARTS PROJECT, I would like you to do your own mosaic. You will have to cut in small pieces cardboards of different colours. Then you will choose a drawing and decorate it with the small pieces. You can get some inspiration from these examples. 

Como proyecto de arte, me gustaría que hagáis vuestro propio mosaico. Tendréis que cortar trozos pequeños de cartulina o folios de diferentes colores. Elegid un dibujo que os guste y decoradlo con los trocitos de papel. Podéis inspiraros en estos ejemplos.

a)  The Sun is a planet that gives us heat and light
b) An asteroid is a great ball of ice with a trail of light
c) A shooting star is a star that enters the Earth's atmosphere.
d) Satellites give out light, heat and orbit the Sun. 

*Los asteroides son grandes trozos de roca que orbitan alrededor de las estrellas. En el Sistema Solar, hay un gran cinturón de asteroides entre Marte y Júpiter. Los cometas son grandes bolas de hielo. Se calientan cuando se acercan al sol y dejan un rastro detrás. We muy raro verlos. Los meteoros son pequeñas rocas que arden cuando se adentran en la Atmófera de la Tierra. Los vemos como estrellas fugaces. Los meteoros que se calientan en la superficie de la Tierra, se llaman Meteoritos. Los meteoritos les dan a los científicos mucha información sobre el espacio.*

The Solar System is a planetary system. A planetary system is a star with planets that orbit around it. 

The Earth and 7 other planets orbit around a sttar called the Sun. For that reason, our planetary system is called the Solar System. 

The Solar System consists of the following planets: Mercury, Venus, the Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

The four planets closest to the Sun are smaller and mostly made of rocks and metals. 

The four planets furthest from the Sun are bigger and are mostly made of gas. 

Now that you read all this information, do a little research and answer these questions:
